Kevin B. Johnson was born and
raised in Wichita, Kansas. He earned his B.A. with Honors
from Wichita State University in 1978 and his J.D. from
Washburn University School of Law in 1981. Following law
school, he took a position with the Wyandotte County
District Attorney’s Office in Kansas City, Kansas. In 1984,
he accepted a position with a Wichita law firm. In 1986 he
left the firm to establish his own office in Wichita,
Kansas, from which he handles various types of legal work,
with a focus on: |

Small Business Representation:
This includes: business start-ups; growth as well as downsizing
issues; employment issues of all types; contract preparation,
analysis, and enforcement, regulatory compliance; business
planning and other matters.
Bankruptcy: both debtor and creditor representation. Pursuant to
11 U.S.C. 528(b)(B), this qualifies Kevin as a “debt relief
agency” and he helps people file for bankruptcy relief under the
Bankruptcy Code.
Probate of Estates: whether a person has died with or without a
will, and including representation of the estate, an heir, or
another party with interest in the estate.
Wills, Living Wills, Powers of Attorney: preparation of the
documents containing instruction for the orderly disposition of
health matters and property.
Mr. Johnson is licensed to practice law before the state and
federal courts of Kansas, the Tenth Circuit of the U.S. Court of
Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. In 1996, he was
appointed to the panel of administrative law judges for the
Kansas Human Rights Commission, hearing cases involving civil
rights claims by employees against their employers.
In addition to overseeing a successful legal practice, Mr.
Johnson also teaches business law at Emporia State University as
an Associate Professor in the School of Business. In the past he
has served as adjunct professor of Business Law for Kansas
Newman College in Wichita, and as an instructor of a graduate
level course in employment law for Webster University, Wichita
campus. He’s written several books on business and employment
law and is a contributing editor to a monthly employment law
newsletter. Mr. Johnson is also a frequent speaker at seminars
and before different groups on various legal matters.
